Transliteration:( Fa azaaqahumul laahul khizya fil hayaatid dunyaa wa la'azaabul Aakhirati akbar; law kaanoo ya'lamoon )
"Therefore, Allah made them to taste humiliation [72] in the life of this world. But the punishment of the Hereafter is the greatest [73]. What a good thing it would have been if they knew?"
Because of their persistent denial and rebellion, Allah caused them to face disgrace and humiliation even in this world.
Some had their faces transformed into animals, some were swallowed by the earth, others were drowned by floods,
and upon some, stones rained from the sky as divine retribution.
These worldly punishments served as a forewarning, yet many failed to take heed.
This verse emphasizes that the worldly punishment is minor compared to what awaits in the Hereafter.
Even if a sinner suffers in this life, it does not reduce the share of torment in the Hereafter.
The two are separate and complete—just like a criminal who faces arrest and yet must also serve his full sentence.
If only they truly understood this, perhaps they would have repented before it was too late.
