Transliteration:( Qul afaghairal laahi taamurooonneee a'budu ayyuhal jaahiloon )
"Please declare: 'Do you bid [156] me to worship other than Allah? O you ignorant ones [157].'"
This verse addresses the proposal made by the polytheists of Makkah, who suggested a compromise:
"Worship our idols for a time, and we will acknowledge your Lord in return."
This absurd offer was firmly rejected. The message is clear—there can be no compromise in the worship of Allah. Tawheed (Oneness of Allah) is absolute, and worshipping anyone else is unacceptable under any terms.
They are called "ignorant ones" because they are completely unaware of the exalted rank of the Prophet ﷺ.
To even imagine that a Prophet could engage in polytheism is as foolish as believing that idols can be divine.
Allah has purified the souls of His Prophets from sin.
Shayṭān himself admitted defeat, saying:
"Except Your chosen servants among them" (Surah 38:83).
Hence, just as the causes for their disbelief are impossible, their falling into disbelief is impossible too.
