📖 Commentary of Surah Az-Zumar – Verse 66

"Instead, you should worship Allah alone and be amongst those who are thankful [159]."

✅ [159] Gratitude Through Exclusive Worship

This verse commands: Worship only Allah, without associating any partners with Him.

The instruction is either:

  • Addressed to the believers, urging them to remain firm in tawheed and grateful worship, or

  • Directed to the Holy Prophet ﷺ, encouraging him to continue in his unwavering devotion and gratitude toward Allah.

In either case, the core message is that true gratitude lies in exclusive worship of Allah—and turning away from shirk is an expression of thankfulness for His countless favours.
