📖 Commentary of Surah Az-Zumar – Verse 57

"Or, lest someone should say: 'Surely, had Allah guided me [144], I would have been among the pious ones.'"

✅ [144] False Excuse of Denial of Guidance

Here, the disbeliever tries to make an excuse by saying:
"If Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."

This refers to guidance towards accepting the truth, i.e., embracing faith.

There is no contradiction in this verse—because true guidance is always available, but one must choose to accept it. Those who turn away by choice have no basis for blaming Allah afterward.
