Transliteration:( Aw taqoola law annal laaha hadaanee lakuntu minal muttaqeen )
"Or, lest someone should say: 'Surely, had Allah guided me [144], I would have been among the pious ones.'"
Here, the disbeliever tries to make an excuse by saying:
"If Allah had guided me, I would have been among the righteous."
This refers to guidance towards accepting the truth, i.e., embracing faith.
There is no contradiction in this verse—because true guidance is always available, but one must choose to accept it. Those who turn away by choice have no basis for blaming Allah afterward.
