Transliteration:( Qaaloo yaa wailanaaa innaa kunnaa zaalimeen )
"They said, ah! Woe to us! No doubt, we were unjust [23]."
These are words of regret and repentance, spoken when the disbelievers finally realize their wrongdoing. They admit, “We were indeed unjust”, acknowledging their denial and sins.
However, this repentance comes too late—after witnessing the punishment—and at that point, it holds no value.
True repentance must occur before the punishment arrives, when the heart still has the chance to turn sincerely toward Allah.
