قَالُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ

Transliteration:( Qaaloo yaa wailanaaa innaa kunnaa zaalimeen )

14. They said, ah! Woe to us! No doubt, we were unjust [23]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(14) They said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers." (Saheen International Translation)

📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Anbiya – Verse 14

"They said, ah! Woe to us! No doubt, we were unjust [23]."

✅ [23] Futile Repentance at the Time of Punishment

These are words of regret and repentance, spoken when the disbelievers finally realize their wrongdoing. They admit, “We were indeed unjust”, acknowledging their denial and sins.

However, this repentance comes too lateafter witnessing the punishment—and at that point, it holds no value.
True repentance must occur before the punishment arrives, when the heart still has the chance to turn sincerely toward Allah.
