    📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Anbiya – Verse 6

    "No town, which We destroyed, had believed before them; will they then believe [11]?" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    ✅ [11] A Lesson from Destroyed Nations

    This verse reminds us that none of the previous nations who were destroyed—like the people of Nuh, Aad, Thamud, and others—believed after the truth was made clear to them.

    So Allah asks: If they did not believe even after seeing signs, will these people now believe?

    It shows the persistent denial of truth by disbelievers, despite repeated warnings and examples from history.

    (21:6) Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe?[8]

    8. This contains a concise answer to the demand for a sign in the previous verse.

    (1) You ask for signs like the ones which were shown by the former Messengers but you forget that those obdurate people did not believe in spite of the signs shown to them.

    (2) While demanding a sign, you fail to realize that the people, who disbelieved even after seeing a sign, were inevitably destroyed.

    (3) It is indeed a favor of Allah that He is not showing the sign as demanded by you. Therefore, the best course for you would be to believe without seeing a sign. Otherwise, you will meet the same doom that the former communities met, when they did not believe even after seeing the signs.

    (6) Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them,[872] so will they believe?

    [872]- Even though they had witnessed signs and miracles.
