Transliteration:( Wa ja'alnas samaaa'a saqfam mahfoozanw wa hum 'an Aayaatihaa mu'ridoon )
"And We made the heavens a roof well protected [47]; and they turn away from its signs [48]."
Allah describes the sky as a protected roof—strong, stable, and flawless, though it is:
Not held by any pillars
Not suspended by any visible means
Its stability and order are a clear proof of Allah’s power.
Despite lacking any physical support, it remains intact by divine will, shielding the earth from external threats (like meteors, radiation, etc.).
Despite these remarkable signs in the heavens, the disbelievers turn away, failing to reflect on them.
This teaches us that sciences like mathematics and astronomy—when pursued with the intention to recognize Allah's greatness—are acts of spiritual insight.
As great saints have said:
“One moment of deep inner reflection is better than a thousand years of worship without presence of heart.”
This verse encourages both contemplation of the cosmos and awareness of Allah’s perfection through it.
