Transliteration:( Qul mai yakla 'ukum billaili wannahaari minar Rahmaan; bal hum 'an zikri Rabbihim mu'ridoon )
"Say, 'who keeps watch upon you from the Most Affectionate [66] by night and by day?" Yet they have turned their faces from remembrance of their Lord [67]."
The verse poses a rhetorical question:
“Who can protect you from Allah, the Most Affectionate, during the night and day?”
It highlights the absolute helplessness of those who deny Allah. Despite knowing that only Allah can protect or punish, they live in heedlessness. The name “Most Affectionate (Al-Rahman)” is used here to show that even though Allah is full of mercy, His punishment can reach those who turn away.
No guardian, no idol, no force can shield them when Allah’s command arrives, whether by night or day.
Despite this truth, the disbelievers deliberately turn away from the remembrance of their Lord. This includes:
Refusing to reflect on the Qur’an
Ignoring divine warnings
Neglecting worship and prayer
Mocking the Messenger and his message
Turning away from Allah's remembrance is the root of spiritual blindness and ultimately leads to punishment in both worlds.

Please refer to Surah Anbiya ayat 41 which provides the complete commentary from verse 41 through 43.
(21:42) Tell them, (O Muhammad): “Who protects you, during the night or the day from the Most Compassionate Lord?”[43] And yet they turn away from the Admonition of their Lord.
43. That is to say, who is there to protect and save you from the scourge of Allah if you are suddenly visited by it any time during the night or day.
