Transliteration:( Qul innamaaa unzirukum bilwahyi; wa laa yasma'us summud du'aaa 'a izaa maa yunzaroon )
"Say, I only warn you by the revelation [72]; and the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned [73]."
The Prophet ﷺ is commanded to declare:
“I only warn you by the revelation” — meaning, the warning he gives is not based on personal opinion, guesses, or speculation, but rather from precise, error-free divine revelation.
This highlights:
The purity and certainty of the Qur’an
That the Prophet ﷺ does not issue warnings from estimation, but solely from what is revealed by Allah
This part of the verse draws an important spiritual analogy:
“The deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.”
From this, we learn two essential insights:
The Qur’anic message must be conveyed verbally to the Prophet ﷺ — inspiration to the heart alone is not sufficient. Revelation through clear communication is Allah’s established method.
Those who do not benefit from divine warnings, even when they hear them physically, are like the deaf, blind, and dead. They may appear alive and healthy, but spiritually they are unresponsive and cut off from guidance.
