Do you build a sign on every height to mock at the wayfarers? [130]
The people of Aad built monuments or towers on high places, not for function but for pride and mockery.
Their wasteful display and mocking attitude toward others revealed deep arrogance.

(26:128) What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun[90]
90. That is, you build grand buildings merely to show off your wealth and power, whereas they have no use and purpose except that they stand as monuments to your grandeur and glory.
[1055]- i.e., a symbol or indication of their wealth and power. They used to build lofty structures along the road to be seen by all who passed by.
