📖 Commentary of Surah Ash-Shu'ara – Verse 19

"And you did that deed [25] and you were ungrateful [26]."

✅ [25] Referring to the Past Incident

Pharaoh alludes to the incident where Musa (عليه السلام) unintentionally killed an Egyptian while defending an Israelite. By calling it "that deed", Pharaoh seeks to highlight Musa's past as a criminal in the eyes of Egyptian law.

✅ [26] False Accusation of Ingratitude

Pharaoh then accuses Musa (عليه السلام) of ingratitude, claiming that after being raised in the palace, Musa repaid their favour by committing murder and turning against them. This is a tactic to discredit Musa's prophetic message by questioning his character and loyalty.

However, true gratitude is shown not to tyrants, but to Allah, and Musa’s mission was to uphold truth and justice, not loyalty to falsehood or oppression.
