Transliteration:( Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen )
177. It should be remembered that no Prophet sustained himself by accepting payment for discharging the duties of prophethood.
Every Prophet had followed some type of profession or skill to earn his living. Only Mirza Qadyani who claimed to be a prophet was excluded from this, because prophethood itself was a bluff for earning wealth and pleasing his masters, the British. 178. It should be remembered that the appointment of a Prophet is done through Divine choice. Therefore, their payment is not the responsibility of the creation.Â
The appointment of the Caliph is done through the choice of the people, hence it is they who are responsible for the financial well-being of the Caliphs.Â
The Four Righteous Caliphs took payment for their duties as Caliphs besides Hazrat Uthman (May Allah be pleased with him) Although these Caliphs were successors they of the Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم were entitled to financial benefits.
