📖 Commentary of Surah Ash-Shu'ara – Verse 219

"And your movements among those who offer prayer [217]."

✅ [217] The Ever-Present Divine Gaze Over the Prophet ﷺ

This verse carries multiple profound meanings:

  • It may refer to the Prophet’s ﷺ nightly movement through the streets of Madinah, observing which Companions were engaged in Tahajjud—a gesture seen and loved by Allah.

  • It may allude to the movement of the Prophet’s ﷺ blessed light through the pure lineage of monotheists, from Hazrat Adam (عليه السلام) to Hazrat Abdullah (رضي الله عنه)—each generation being pure, pious, and free from disbelief.

  • It could also signify the movements within Salah—Qiyam, Ruku, Sujud—or even the motion of his blessed eyes, which, uniquely, could see both in front and behind during prayer.

Given that this Surah is Makki, the interpretations referring to pre-Madinan events are more fitting. From this, it is evident that every ancestor of the Holy Prophet ﷺ was a true monotheist and devout believer, proving the purity of his lineage.
