📖 Commentary of Surah Bani Isra’il – Verse 103

"Then he desired to drive them out of the land [214], but We drowned him and all his associates [215]." [103]

✅ [214] Pharaoh’s Intention to Annihilate

Pharaoh’s goal was not merely to expel Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) and his followers from Egypt, but to completely annihilate them from the face of the earth.

  • If Pharaoh had only wanted to exile them, it would have sufficed for them to leave Egypt voluntarily.

  • Instead, Pharaoh pursued them beyond Egypt’s borders, aiming for their total destruction.

✅ [215] The Drowning of Pharaoh and His Followers

Allah Almighty drowned Pharaoh and his disbelieving followers in the sea as punishment.

  • However, those Egyptians who had embraced faith were spared.

  • The Holy Qur’ān explicitly mentions the salvation of the faithful from among Pharaoh’s people.
