📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Baqarah – Verse 51

"Or any other creation, which may be bigger [109], in your thinking, then now they will say who will create us again [110]. Say, 'He who created you for the first time', now then they will shake their heads jesting towards you, when [111], it is', say you, 'perhaps it may be near' [112]."

✅ [109] Creation Greater Than Bones?

If iron and steel, etc. which have no links with life can be recreated, then what about living beings who turn into bones and sand but originally had life?

Remember, the word "BECOME" is a verb for a command, but it is used not to make the command obligatory—instead, it serves to accuse and silence the rejectors through blame.

✅ [110] Forgetting the Creator

Because these infidels had forgotten the inventor, they naturally forgot the One who can recreate them.

✅ [111] Three Questions of Denial

The infidels asked three things about resurrection:

  • How will He bring them back to life?

  • Who would bring them back to life?

  • When will He bring them back to life?

Answers to all three questions are given separately and in a most exquisite manner.

✅ [112] "Perhaps" Means It Is Near

The use of 'perhaps' by Allah Almighty expresses certainty. This tells us that the Day of Judgement is very near, because the coming of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is one of its greatest signs.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ joined his two blessed fingers together and said:
"Qiyamat and I are just like this."

From this, there is a hint that Allah Almighty had bestowed knowledge of the Day of Judgement upon our Holy Prophet ﷺ.
