📖 Commentary of Surah An-Naml – Verse 26

"Allah—there is no deity except Him. He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne. [56]" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

✅ [56] Declaration of Divine Oneness and Sovereignty

This verse concludes the monotheistic message delivered by the hoopoe (Hudhud) and affirms the absolute Oneness of Allah“There is no deity except Him.” This is the central creed of Islam, declaring that none is worthy of worship, not the sun, stars, idols, or any creation—except Allah alone.

He is described as “Lord of the Mighty Throne”, referring to the ‘Arsh (Throne), which is the greatest of all created things. Being its Lord affirms Allah’s supreme authority, power, and dominion over all that exists, both seen and unseen.

This verse serves as:

  • A powerful reminder of Allah’s majesty.

  • A refutation of all forms of shirk.

  • A reinforcement of the truth brought even by a bird, recorded by Allah Himself—demonstrating that guidance can come through any means chosen by the Creator.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Naml verse 26 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Naml ayat 22 which provides the complete commentary from verse 22 through 26.

(27:26) Allah – none is worthy of worship save He; He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.[35]

Ala-Maududi

(27:26) Allah – none is worthy of worship save He; He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.[35]

35. This is one of the verses of the Quran, where its recital makes it obligatory to perform a Sajdah (prostration), and there is a consensus on this of the Muslim jurists. The object of performing a Sajdah here is that a believer should set himself apart from the sun-worshipers and should declare by his action that he does not regard the sun but Allah Almighty alone as his Deity and Lord.

(26) Allāh - there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne."
