Transliteration:( Innaka laa tusmi'ul mawtaa wa laa tusmi'us summad du'aaa izaa wallaw mudbireen )
"Indeed, you cannot make the dead hear [146], and nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn away showing their backs."
This verse uses metaphorical language to describe the disbelievers. They are compared to the dead and the deaf—not in physical sense, but in terms of their spiritual unresponsiveness.
The “dead” here refers to those whose hearts are lifeless to guidance, and the “deaf” are those who turn away from the truth, refusing to even hear it. Despite the clarity of the Prophet’s ﷺ call, such people deliberately reject it, and thus cannot be guided.

(27:80) Surely you cannot make the dead hear you,[97] nor can you make the deaf hear your call if they turn back in flight,[98]
97. “The dead” the ones whose consciences are dead and whose stubbornness, obstinacy and love of the usage and custom have deprived them of the sense of discrimination between the truth and falsehood.
98. That is, “Who not only close their ears against what you say, but slink away from the place where they fear they aught hear what you say.”
