    ✅ [68] A Test Through Gifts

    Queen Bilqis devises a strategic plan to assess the true nature of Prophet Sulaiman (peace be upon him)—by sending him a lavish gift. Historical reports mention these included:

    • Five hundred male slaves and five hundred maids in golden garments,

    • Gold bricks, a jewel-studded throne, and

    • Rare fragrances like musk and ambergris
      (Tafsir Roohul Ma‘ani).

    This was not merely diplomacy—it was a carefully crafted test to observe whether Sulaiman was a worldly king or a true prophet.

    ✅ [69] A Method to Discern Truth

    She says, "then I shall see what answer the messengers bring back," meaning she will judge by his response. If he accepts the gift, she assumes he seeks wealth or political alliance. But if he rejects the gift and invites to faith, she will recognize that he is a Prophet, not driven by material gain.

    This verse showcases:

    • Her intellectual depth and ability to approach serious matters methodically.

    • The clear difference between worldly leadership and prophetic mission—which will soon be revealed through Sulaiman’s firm yet noble response.
