    📖 Commentary of Surah An-Naml – Verse 73

    "And indeed, your Lord is graceful for mankind [139], but most of them are not grateful [140]."

    ✅ [139] Universal Mercy in Worldly Blessings

    Here, “mankind” refers to all people, including both believers and disbelievers. The gracefulness of Allah mentioned here refers to worldly bounties—such as life, sustenance, health, and provisions—which are given universally.
    However, faith and piety are special gifts reserved for the believers. The disbelievers, despite their rejection, are spared from immediate punishment, which is also a reflection of divine mercy.

    ✅ [140] Misuse of Divine Bounty

    Instead of being grateful, the disbelievers abuse Allah’s grace by arrogantly demanding punishment to be hastened upon them. This shows their ignorance and complete disregard for the true purpose of Allah’s mercy.

    (27:73) Indeed Your Lord is exceedingly bountiful to mankind. Yet most of them do not give thanks.[90]

    90. That is, “It is Allah’s mercy that He does not seize the culprit immediately after his commission of a crime but gives him respite to reform himself. But most people are not grateful for this, and do not utilize the period of respite for their reformation. On the contrary, when they see that they have not been taken to task immediately, they form the idea that there is none to call them to account. Therefore, they are free to do whatever they like and they should not listen to any word of admonition”.

    (73) And indeed, your Lord is the possessor of bounty for the people, but most of them are not grateful."
