Transliteration:( Allazeena aamanoo wa haajaroo wa jaahadoo fee sabeelil laahi bi amwaalihim wa anfusihim a'zamu darajatan 'indal laah; wa ulaaa'ika humul faaa'izoon )
Those who believe and migrate and fight [44] with their wealth and lives in the path of Allah [45] have the highest rank with Allah. And they are the ones who reach their goal.
This verse outlines the three recognized categories of Jihad:
Striving with one’s life only – practiced by the poor Muslims who could not offer financial support but fought personally.
Striving with one’s wealth – as seen in the case of wealthy but physically unfit believers, who provided horses, arms, and equipment for those who could fight.
Striving with both life and wealth – those who personally fought and also supported other soldiers financially.
All three groups are included in this verse, but it subtly suggests the superiority of the Muhajireen (Emigrants) over the Ansaar (Helpers), though both are beloved to Allah.
Their superiority is not just over disbelievers, but even among believers, they hold a distinct elevated rank due to their sacrifice and commitment.
Disbelievers hold no status in Allah’s sight whatsoever.
To even compare them to Muslim warriors is futile.
An example from the time of Hazrat Nooh (عليه السلام) is mentioned:
Animals were permitted to enter the Ark, but an infidel was not.
Allah declares in Surah Al-Bayyinah (98:6):
“Indeed, they (disbelievers) are the worst of creatures.”
Thus, those who believe, migrate, and strive with sincerity have attained the highest spiritual stations, and they alone are truly successful.
