Transliteration:( Summa anzalal laahu sakeenatahoo 'alaa Rasoolihee wa'alal mu'mineena wa anzala junoodal lam tarawhaa wa azzabal lazeena kafaroo; wa zaalika jazaaa'ul kaafireen )
Then Allah sent down His Tranquility upon His Messenger and upon the Muslims [58]. And He sent down forces that you did not see [59], and He chastised the infidels. And that is the punishment for the infidels.
From this we learn that those Muslim soldiers who fled from the Battle of Hunain remained believers, as Allah Almighty had pardoned them. Allah sent down His Calm and Tranquility upon His Messenger ﷺ and upon the Muslims. Thus, if anyone now raises objections or criticism against those who initially fled, they are denying the veracity of this verse. The fleeing soldiers controlled themselves, returned to the battle, and inflicted defeat upon the enemy. This victory became an atonement for their earlier retreat and a testament to Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
By this is meant the angels who had come at Hunain to raise the pride and morale of the Muslim army. Unlike the Battle of Badr, where angels took an active role in fighting, at Hunain the angels did not participate directly in combat. Their presence was meant to encourage and inspire the believers spiritually, strengthening their confidence and resolve in the face of the enemy. This spiritual support contributed significantly to the eventual victory, even though the angels themselves did not engage physically in the battle.
