Transliteration:( Qul in kaana aabaaa'ukum wa abnaaa'ukum wa ikhwaanukum wa azwaajukum wa 'asheeratukum wa amwaaluniq taraftumoohaa wa tijaaratun takhshawna kasaadahaa wa masaakinu tardawnahaaa ahabba ilaikum minal laahi wa Rasoolihee wa Jihaadin fee Sabeelihee fatarabbasoo hattaa ya'tiyallahu bi amrih; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmal faasiqeen )
Please declare: "If your fathers and your sons and your brothers and your wives [50], and your clan [51], and the wealth of your earnings [52], and the trade of which you fear loss, and the houses of your choice, are things [53] dearer [54] to you than Allah and His Messenger, and the striving in His Path, then wait till Allah sends His Command. And Allah guides not the disobedient."
You are allowed to fulfill family rights prescribed by Shariah, even if they are non-Muslims. However, wholehearted love and attachment for them that surpasses the love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ is unlawful.
The heart’s deepest inclination must never turn toward the enemies of Allah and His beloved Prophet ﷺ.
Moreover, loving an infidel wholeheartedly is considered a form of infidelity itself.
When the rights of the Creator and the creation come into conflict, the priority must always be given to the rights of the Creator.
The word “your clan” comprehensively includes all in-laws, blood relatives, and extended family ties.
Mentioning “wealth of your earnings” alongside inherited wealth highlights that wealth earned through personal effort holds greater value and responsibility than inherited wealth, reflecting sincere sacrifice.
Love for worldly possessions and material things is not prohibited, provided it does not take precedence over love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.
Unlawful love, such as illicit relationships, is strictly forbidden.
This verse’s commentary connects to the Hadith which states that none is a true believer unless the Prophet ﷺ is more beloved to him than his parents, children, and all others.
This love is not merely rational or common affection but a deep, natural, obedient love rooted in reverence and obedience, similar to one’s love for Allah Almighty.
Loving the Prophet ﷺ sincerely is an essential part of faith, and lacking this love is tantamount to disbelief and deserving of severe consequences.

(9:24) Tell them, (O Prophet): “If your fathers and your sons and your brothers and your wives and your tribe and the riches you have acquired and the commerce of which you fear a slackening, and the dwellings that you love, if they are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in His cause, then wait until Allah brings about His decree.[22] Allah does not guide the evil-doing folk.”
22. That is: “The judgment will deprive them of the blessings of the true faith, and of the honor of bearing its standard and leading the world towards its guidance and bestow these on others”.
