📖 Commentary of Surah Yusuf – Verse 57

"And the reward of the Hereafter is indeed better for those who believed and were conscious [125]."

✅ 125. The Eternal Reward of the Hereafter

This verse emphasizes that the bounties the pious receive in this world will not be deducted from the rewards they will receive in the Hereafter. The rewards in the Hereafter will be far greater, as the world's blessings are temporary, while the Hereafter holds eternal rewards. The believers and God-conscious will be rewarded abundantly in the life after death, far beyond what they receive in this world.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Yusuf verse 57 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Yusuf ayat 56 which provides the complete commentary from verse 56 through 57.

(12:57) Surely the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believe and act in a God-fearing way.[49]

Ala-Maududi

(12:57) Surely the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believe and act in a God-fearing way.[49]

49. This is a warning against a misunderstanding that one might have had from the preceding verse that kingdom and power were the real ultimate rewards for virtue and righteousness, for the best reward that a believer should desire and strive for will be the one that Allah will bestow upon believers in the Hereafter.

(57) And the reward of the Hereafter is better for those who believed and were fearing Allāh.
