    📖 Commentary of Surah Yusuf – Verse 74

    "They said, 'What is the penalty for him if you are liars [158]?'"

    ✅ The Proposal of Punishment for a Crime [158]

    This means if the item under question is found in your possession, you should suggest the punishment for it. From this, we understand that it is acceptable to propose and suggest punishment for a crime mutually, on the condition that the punishment proposed is not contrary to Islamic law.

    There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.
