📖 Commentary of Surah Yusuf – Verse 59

"And when he had provided their supplies [127], he said, 'Bring to me your brother from your father. Do you not see that I give full measure and that I am the best host [128]?'"

✅ 127. The Brothers’ Understanding and Hazrat Yusuf’s (on whom be peace) Inquiry

It had been about forty years since Hazrat Yusuf (on whom be peace) was thrown into the well, and the brothers were under the impression that he had died. They mentioned to the king that they were the sons of a Prophet and that out of their twelve brothers, one had been devoured by a wolf, leaving them eleven. Upon hearing this, Hazrat Yusuf (on whom be peace) inquired about their eleventh brother, Benjamin. They explained that they had left him behind to care for their grief-stricken father.

✅ 128. Assurance of Benjamin’s Well-Being

Hazrat Yusuf (on whom be peace) assured them that Benjamin would not be inconvenienced in any way, emphasizing his hospitality. He had already shown them generosity by providing them with full measure of supplies. This highlights Hazrat Yusuf’s (on whom be peace) noble character and how he treated his brothers with kindness, despite the years of hardship they had caused him.
