Quran Quote  :

    قَالُواْ تَٱللَّهِ تَفۡتَؤُاْ تَذۡكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوۡ تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡهَٰلِكِينَ

    Transliteration:( Qaaloo tallaahi tafta'u tazkuru Yoosufa hattaa takoona haradan aw takoona minal haalikeen )

    85. They said, "By Allah, you will continue to remember Yusuf until you approach the grave or pass away [181]." (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (85) They said, "By Allāh, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish." (Saheen International Translation)

    📖 Commentary of Surah Yusuf – Verse 85

    They said, "By Allah, you will continue to remember Yusuf until you approach the grave or pass away [181]." (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    ✅ 181. Words of Sympathy, Not Blame

    • These words were spoken by his sons and other close relatives.

    • The intention was not to criticize or rebuke Hazrat Ya’qoob (عليه السلام).

    • Instead, these words were spoken out of empathy and emotional support, to comfort him in his deep sorrow and constant remembrance of Hazrat Yusuf (عليه السلام).

    • It shows the intensity of Ya’qoob's grief and how evident it was to those around him.

    Ibn-Kathir

    85. They said, By Allah , you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish.

    (12:85) The sons said: “By Allah! You will continue to remember Joseph until you will either consume yourself with grief, or will die.”

    Ala-Maududi

    (12:85) The sons said: “By Allah! You will continue to remember Joseph until you will either consume yourself with grief, or will die.”

    There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.

    (85) They said, "By Allāh, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish."
