📖 Commentary of Surah Yusuf – Verse 14

"They said, 'If the wolf eats him while we are a strong group [24], then we would be surely at a loss.'"

✅ 24. The Significance of Protection

In this verse, the brothers of Hazrat Yusuf (on whom be peace) argue that despite being a strong group, they fear that the wolf might still devour him. This reflects their false assurance in their physical strength, overlooking the divine protection that Hazrat Yusuf (on whom be peace) truly had.

This verse also connects to the time when Hazrat Yusuf (on whom be peace) was sent to the jungle by his father, Hazrat Yaqoob (on whom be peace). Before sending him, Hazrat Yaqoob placed the shirt of Hazrat Ebrahim (on whom be peace) — which was worn by him when he was thrown into the fire by Namrood — on his son's neck as a means of protection (Ta'weez).

From this, we learn that using relics of the pious as a form of protection is permissible, reflecting the belief in divine guardianship and the significance of righteous symbols for safeguarding.
