📖 Commentary of Surah Yusuf – Verse 92

He said, "Today, there is no blame upon you. May Allah forgive you [197], and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful."

✅ [197] Forgiveness of human and Divine rights

  • The brothers of Hazrat Yusuf (علیہ السلام) had violated both the rights of a fellow human and the rights of Allah.

  • Hazrat Yusuf (علیہ السلام) forgave them for personal harm by declaring, “There is no reproach upon you today.”

  • He also prayed to Allah for their forgiveness of the Divine rights they had breached.

  • This shows that a Prophet can forgive personal wrongs, but Divine forgiveness must be sought from Allah.

  • Their error is described as a mistaken judgment—not a willful defiance—indicating that their intent was not to rebel but to act upon an incorrect view.
