Transliteration:( Qaala bal sawwalat lakum anfusukum amran fasabrun jameelun 'asal laahu any yaa tiyanee bihim jamee'aa; innahoo Huwal 'Aleemul Hakeem )
He said, "Rather, your souls have tempted you to a matter [178]. So patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them all to me [179]. Indeed, He is the Knowing, the Wise." (Kanzul Imaan Translation)
The phrase “your souls” is in the plural, which includes Hazrat Yusuf (عليه السلام) as well. Hazrat Ya’qoob (عليه السلام) used this phrase to imply that just as Yusuf’s separation had a hidden plan behind it involving his sons, the same is the case with Benyamin.
He understood that Benyamin had not actually stolen anything, and that this was part of Hazrat Yusuf’s strategy.
Hazrat Ya’qoob (عليه السلام) knew that had the brothers not revealed their own law to the king, Benyamin could not have been lawfully detained in Egypt, as Egyptian law did not include such punishment for theft.
The use of the plural in “bring them” (i.e., “جميعا”) shows that Hazrat Ya’qoob (عليه السلام) had full faith that all three—Yusuf, Benyamin, and Yahooda—would be reunited with him.
He knew that Yusuf (عليه السلام) was alive and present in Egypt, as the grammatical plural indicates a group of at least three individuals.
His trust in Allah’s Knowledge and Wisdom was firm, and he awaited reunion with hope and patience.
The phrase “bring them to me” did not necessarily mean they would return to Kanaan—rather, he would be reunited with them wherever Allah willed, which happened when Hazrat Ya’qoob (عليه السلام) traveled to Egypt and was welcomed by Yusuf and Benyamin on the outskirts of the city.
83.[Jacob] said, Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together. Indeed it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.
(12:83) The father heard the narration and said: “(All that is untrue). But your souls have made it easy for you to engage in a heinous act.[64] So, I will be graciously patient even at this. Allah may well bring them all back to me. He is All-Knowing, All-Wise.”
64. That is, you readily believed that my son, whom I know to be of a noble character, had committed the theft of a cup. You have behaved in his case just as you behaved in the case of his elder brother. You made away with him and then pretended, without any pangs of conscience, that a wolf had devoured him and now, with the same ease, you tell me that the other brother has committed a theft.
