📖 Commentary of Surah Yusuf – Verse 86

He said, "I only complain of my anguish [182] and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know [183]." (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

✅ 182. Directing Grief Only to Allah

  • Hazrat Ya’qoob (عليه السلام) clarified that his expression of grief and distress is not for others, but is solely directed to Allah.

  • This highlights that complaining about one’s inner pain to Allah is a form of devotion and not impatience.

  • It is a practice of the Prophets to turn to Allah in private anguish rather than seeking sympathy from creation.

✅ 183. Knowledge from Divine Revelation

  • Hazrat Ya’qoob (عليه السلام) says that he knows certain divine realities and glad tidings which others, including his sons, do not know.

  • This refers to his spiritual conviction and certainty (yaqeen) that Yusuf (عليه السلام) is alive and will be reunited with him.

  • It shows the difference between Prophetic insight and ordinary perception, as well as the special divine connection granted to the Prophets.
