Quran-5:107 Surah Al-maidah English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Fa in 'usira 'alaaa annahumas tahaqqaaa isman fa aakharaani yaqoomaani maqaamahumaa minal lazeenas tahaqqa 'alaihimul awlayaani fa yuqsimaani billaahi lashahaadatunaaa ahaqqu min shahaadatihimaaa wa ma'tadainaaa innaaa izal laminaz zaalimeen )

107. Then if it is found that they have committed a sin [289], then two others should take their place from among those nearest to the deceased whose rights have been violated by this sin (false testimony). They should swear by Allah that our testimony is more truthful than the testimony of these two, and we have not overstepped [290]. If we did, then indeed we would be among the unjust [292]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(107) But if it is found that those two were guilty of sin [i.e., perjury], let two others stand in their place [who are] foremost [in claim] from those who have a lawful right. And let them swear by Allāh, "Our testimony is truer than their testimony, and we have not transgressed. Indeed, we would then be of the wrongdoers." (Saheen International Translation)

📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Ma’idah – Verse 107

"Then if it is found that they have committed a sin [289], then two others should take their place from among those nearest to the deceased whose rights have been violated by this sin (false testimony). They should swear by Allah that our testimony is more truthful than the testimony of these two, and we have not overstepped [290]. If we did, then indeed we would be among the unjust [292]."

✅ The Discovery of the Lie in the Budail Case [289]

The phrase “committed a sin” refers to when Tameem and Adi were exposed as liars after the missing silver bowl of Hazrat Budail was found in Makkah. Their deceit in falsely withholding inheritance confirmed their guilt, marking them as “among the sinners.”

✅ Role of the Heirs in Correcting False Testimony [290]

Once guilt is proven, two heirs of the deceased—those wronged—must now take an oath declaring that their testimony is truer. This shows that in monetary and inheritance matters, two witnesses are essential. For adultery, four are needed; for sighting the crescent, even one may suffice. Thus, the standard of testimony varies by issue and context.

✅ The Oath of Budail’s Heirs [291]

After the bowl was recovered, Budail’s two heirs took an oath affirming ownership and truthfulness. This confirms that such oaths by heirs are accepted to correct false testimony, especially when they concern violated inheritance rights.

✅ Claim and Rebuttal Both Require Evidence [292]

This verse teaches that when two parties claim a right, both must provide testimony. It is obligatory on those rejecting a claim to defend themselves with oaths or proof. The incident of Hazrat Budail remains a vital example of how justice is restored through testimony and divine law.
