Transliteration:( Wa law anna Ahlal Kitaabi aamanoo wattaqaw lakaffarnaa 'anhum saiyiaatihim wa la adkhalnaahu Jannaatin Na'eem )
65. And had the People of the Book believed [196] and feared Allah, We would have certainly removed their sins from them and would have surely admitted them into the Gardens of Bliss [197].
Faith is incomplete without belief in the Holy Prophet ﷺ, even if one accepts all previous revealed books and prophets. The Holy Prophet’s esteemed status is the cornerstone of true faith. Accepting him means accepting all; rejecting him means rejecting all.
The phrase "had they believed" highlights the failure of the People of the Book to recognize the final Prophet ﷺ.
Had they believed and been God-fearing, Allah would have wiped away their previous sins and granted them entry into Paradise.
This shows that Islam’s blessings erase past sins committed during disbelief.
However, this forgiveness does not cover violations of human rights, which require compensation.
