Transliteration:( Innamaa yureedush Shaitaanu ai yooqi'a bainakumul 'adaawata wal baghdaaa'a fil khamri wal maisiri wa yasuddakum 'an zikril laahi wa 'anis Salaati fahal antum muntahoon )
"The devil (Shaitaan) desires only to infuse hatred and enmity among you through wine and gambling [252], and to bar you from the remembrance of Allah [253], and from Prayer. Will you then desist?"
Drunkenness breeds hatred, often leading to fights and even murder. In gambling, the loser harbors deep resentment toward the winner, sometimes with violent consequences. This reflects the worldly loss. The religious harm includes neglect of Salaah and remembrance of Allah, distancing one from faith.
From this, it is understood that any activity that prevents remembrance of Allah or leads to neglect of Salaah is inherently harmful. That is why even business dealings are prohibited after the Friday Adhaan—to safeguard the priority of worship over worldly engagement.
