📖 Commentary of Surah As-Saffaat – Verse 31

"Now the word of our Lord has been justified against us that we are certainly to taste [32] (punishment)."

✅ [32] Equal Accountability for All

This verse shows that both those who went astray and those who misled others will have to taste the punishment.

Here, the word “taste” is not used to imply a lighter punishment, but rather carries a tone of sarcasm
just like a judge says to a criminal:
“Now enjoy the taste of your deeds.”

It reflects the certainty and consequence of divine justice falling upon all who rejected the truth.

Ibn-Kathir
