Transliteration:( Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta'budoon )
"When he said [85] to his father and his people: 'Whom do you worship?'"
By father, it refers to his uncle Aazar, as explained by many scholars. Hazrat Ebrahim's biological father was Tarukh, who was a believer and a monotheist. (For a detailed discussion, refer to Tafseer Na’eemi.)
This statement of Hazrat Ebrahim (On whom be peace) was a rebuke, aimed at exposing the fallacy of idol worship. It highlights that in religious matters, there is no room for favoritism, even if the other party is a close relative.
This verse also teaches us that a believer and a disbeliever may be connected by blood, nation, or profession, but not by faith. Our true identity and solidarity are based on Islam, regardless of which country or city we belong to.
