قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٞ

Transliteration:( Qaala qaaa'ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen )

51. A speaker from among them will say: "Surely, there was a mate [51] of mine". (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(51) A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]. (Saheen International Translation)

📖 Commentary of Surah As-Saffaat – Verse 51

"A speaker from among them will say: 'Surely, there was a mate [51] of mine.'"

✅ [51] Recalling a Denying Companion

This refers to a neighbor or close companion—someone who was closely associated with the speaker in the world.

This person was a denier of the Day of Judgement, and often argued or debated about such matters with the believer.

The verse highlights a moment of remembrance and reflection in Paradise, as one of the blessed recalls the one who had rejected faith.
