A Najm - This surah is considered among the earliest revelations of the Qur'an, and it speaks to the divine power and nature of the Holy Prophet Muhammad's prophetic visions.

Lesson learned from Surah An-Najm:

  1. The Prophet ﷺ did not speak of his own accord. Each word of his was divinely inspired.  
  2. Man does not always get what he wants  
  3. On the Day of Qiyāmah, nothing will be able to intercede on behalf of anyone except if Allāh grants it permission to.  
  4. Conjecture is never of any benefit in reaching the truth; hard evidence is needed for the truth. 
  5. Allāh is all-aware of who has deviated and who is guided

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

وَٱلنَّجۡمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
Transliteration:( Wannajmi izaa hawaa )

1. By the brightly shining star(Muhammad) when he descended (2)from the Ascension (Me'raaz).

مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
Transliteration:( Maa dalla saahibukum wa maa ghawaa )

2. Your companion (Muhammad) has not strayed, nor was he misled (3).

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ
Transliteration:( Wa maa yyantiqu 'anilhawaaa )

3. And he does not speak of his own desire (4).

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡيٞ يُوحَىٰ
Transliteration:( In huwa illaa Wahyuny yoohaa )

4. It is only through the revelations (5) that are sent to him.

عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡقُوَىٰ
Transliteration:( 'Allamahoo shadeedul quwaa )

5. Taught him the One possessing Supreme(6) Power(7).

ذُو مِرَّةٖ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ
Transliteration:( Zoo mirratin fastawaa )

6. The Lord of mighty strength, who manifested this ascendance (of Muhammad).

وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
Transliteration:( Wa huwa bil ufuqil a'laa )

7.And he was on the highest horizon(8)(to see Splendid Divine Sight).

ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
Transliteration:( Summa danaa fatadalla )

8. Then the spleended vision drew nearer (9), and then he came closer (10).

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ
Transliteration:( Fakaana qaaba qawsaini aw adnaa )

9.So this was the distance of two hands, or rather less (11) than that.

فَأَوۡحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ مَآ أَوۡحَىٰ
Transliteration:( Fa awhaaa ilaa 'abdihee maaa awhaa )

10. And He revealed (12) to His servant whatever He wanted to reveal (13).
