Ad-Dukhan (Arabic: الدخان, ad-dukhān; meaning: Smoke) is the 44th chapter (surah) of the Quran with 59 verses (ayat). The word dukhan, meaning 'smoke', is mentioned in verse 10.

The summary/theme of the surah Ad-Dukhan: 

Surah Dukhan speaks about the descent of the Quran on the Night of Ordainment (Laylat al=Qadr: لَيلَةُ القَدر) in order to guide people. However, the disbelievers are in doubt about it due to their carnal desires. Then they are warned of worldly and otherworldly punishment.

Lesson learned from surah Ad-Dukhan: 

  1. The creation of Allāh is glad to see the back of a transgressor when he/she dies.  
  2. No one will be able to benefit another on the Day of Judgement.  
  3. The people of Jahannam will be fed from the tree of Zaqqūm.  
  4. In the Hereafter, there shall be no death to end the suffering of the people of Jahannam, nor to end the blessings of the people of Jannah.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

مِن فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
 Transliteration:( Min Fir'awn; innahoo kaana 'aaliyam minal musrifeen )

31.From Pharaoh who is undoubtedly a tyrant, haughty and guilty of excesses.

35. "It is only our first and the only death (35) and we shall not be raised (36) again".
