Transliteration:( Wa aatainaahum minal aayaati maa feehi balaaa'um mubeen )
"And We gave them the token, which was a clear trial [34]."
The token refers to great miracles and favours granted to the Israelites—such as the parting of the sea, the descent of Manna and Salwa, and shade from clouds.
These were not just blessings, but also a test, as bounties are trials from Allah. That is why they are referred to here as a trial rather than mere reward.
