The summary/theme of the Surah Ibrahim:

This surah is an admonition to the disbelievers who were dismissing the message of Muhammad and devising cunning plans to crush his mission. Be that as it may, notice that impugning, scolding, and rebuking overwhelm admonitions.

Lesson learned from Surah Ibrahim:

  1. If you are grateful and thank Allāh, He will increase you in favours; but if you are ungrateful, His punishment is severe.  
  2. Shayṭān will dramatically turn his back on those who followed him on the Day of Judgement.  
  3. Nothing can be hidden from the Knowledge of Allāh  
  4. Never think of Allāh to be neglectful of the actions of the oppressors.  
  5. Allāh never goes against His promise.  
  6. Make it a point to say this du‘ā:  رَبِّ ٱجۡعَلۡنِى مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِى ‌ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلۡ دُعَآءِ، رَبَّنَا ٱغۡفِرۡ لِى وَلِوَالِدَىَّ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلۡحِسَابُ'O my Rabb! Make me one who establishes ṣalāh and from my progeny too [create those who establish ṣalāh], and accept this prayer of mine. O our Rabb! Forgive me, my parents and the Believers on the day the accounting is established.’[1] 14:40-41  If you try to count the blessings of Allāh, you will be unable to do so.

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

 

قَالَتۡ لَهُمۡ رُسُلُهُمۡ إِن نَّحۡنُ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَمُنُّ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَمَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نَّأۡتِيَكُم بِسُلۡطَٰنٍ إِلَّا بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
 Transliteration:( Qaalat lahum Rusuluhum in nahnu illaa basharum mislukum wa laakinnal laaha yamunnu 'alaa mai yashaaa'u min 'ibaadihee wa maa kaana lanaaa an na'tiyakum bisul taanin illaa bi iznil laah; wa 'alal laahi falyatawakkalil mu'minoon )

11. Their messenger said to them, "We are indeed human beings like yourselves (30), but Allah bestows his favour (31) on whomsoever he will of his bondsmen. And it is not for us to bring you any authority but by the command of Allah. And upon Allah (32) alone the Muslims should rely (33).

 Transliteration:( Wa maa lanaa allaa natawakkala 'alal laahi wa qad hadaanaa subulanaa; wa lanasbiranna 'alaa maaa aazaitumoonaa; wa 'alal laahi falyatawakkalil mutawakkiloon )

12. And what happened to us that we should not rely upon Allah, He has shown us our ways. And we shall surely bear patiently that with which you are annoying us. And let the trustful put their trust in Allah alone (34).

13. And the infidels said to the messengers, 'We shall surely turn you out of our lands, or you return (35) to our religion.' Then their lord revealed to them' We shall surely destroy the unjust.'

14. And we shall surely make you settle in the land (36) after them. This is for him who fears standing before Me (37), and be afraid of the torment I have commanded.

 Transliteration:( Yatajarra'uhoo wa laa yakaadu yuseeghuhoo wa ya'teehil mawtu min kulli makaaninw wa maa huwa bimaiyitinw wa minw waraaa'ihee 'azaabun ghaleez )

17. He will take its draught little by little with difficulty and there shall be no hope to swallow it, and death shall come to him from all sides, but he shall not die (41): And there is a terrible torment after him.

مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِمۡۖ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ كَرَمَادٍ ٱشۡتَدَّتۡ بِهِ ٱلرِّيحُ فِي يَوۡمٍ عَاصِفٖۖ لَّا يَقۡدِرُونَ مِمَّا كَسَبُواْ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٖۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلضَّلَٰلُ ٱلۡبَعِيدُ
 Transliteration:( Masalul lazeena kafaroo bi Rabbihim; a'maaluhum karamaadinish taddat bihir reehu fee yawmin 'aasifin; laa yaqdiroona mimmaa kasaboo 'alaa shai'; zaalika huwad dalaalul ba'eed )

18. The condition of the rejecters of their lord is such that their deeds are like ashes (42) upon which a strong blast of wind came in a day of the storm. They got nothing (43) out of entire earning. This is the far off straying (44),

19. Did you not see that Allah has made the heavens and the earth with the (45) truths? If He pleases He can take you away and bring forth a new creation.
