"Then We sent revelation to him, 'make the [39] ark within Our sight and by Our Command. Then when Our Command comes and the [40] oven boils take into it two of every pair and your [41] family. But those of them against whom the word has [42] already gone forth; and do not talk [43] to Me regarding those who are unjust. They shall be surely drowned [44]."
This refers to constructing the ark under Allah’s guidance and supervision, ensuring its design, safety, and purpose were according to divine command. Hazrat Nuh (عليه السلام) is recognised as the first to build a ship, and he did so through revelation—not human invention.
The boiling of water from the oven near the central mosque of Kufa was the sign of the approaching flood. This marked the moment to board the ark immediately, confirming the divine schedule of the deluge.
The command included taking his wife, children, or the believing members of his family—those most clearly identified as “family” in the divine sense, i.e., those who believed.
Despite being close relations, Kan’aan (his son) and Wā’ila (his wife) were excluded, as they were among the disbelievers, and thus the divine decree of destruction had already been passed against them.
Hazrat Nuh (عليه السلام) either forgot that Kan’aan was among the condemned, or misinterpreted the divine command by assuming family to include him. This led him to intercede, as detailed in Surah Hud, but it was rejected.
Allah firmly declared that no intercession should be made for the unjust, as their drowning had been irrevocably decided.

Please refer to Surah Muminun ayat 26 which provides the complete commentary from verse 26 through 30.
(23:27) Thereupon We revealed to him, saying: “Build the Ark under Our eyes and according to Our revelation. And when Our command comes to pass[29] and the oven boils over, take on board a pair each from every species, and also take your household except those of them against whom sentence has already been passed and do not plead to Me on behalf of the wrong-doers. They are doomed to be drowned.
29. Some commentators think that tannur means the earth; others take it for the highest part of the earth; and still others think that the words far-at-tannur in the text have been used for the break of dawn. There are some who express the opinion that the words have been used metaphorically for the creation of turmoil. But in view of the context, we see no reason why one should take a far fetched figurative meaning of a clear word of the Quran. It appears that a particular oven (tannur) had been earmarked for the deluge to start from, which was to all appearances an unexpected origin of the doom of the wretched people.
