    📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Mu’minun – Verse 113

    “They said, ‘We stayed for a day or part of a day, so ask those who count.’” [154]

    ✅ [154] The Illusion of a Long Life

    On the Day of Judgement, the disbelievers will perceive worldly life as fleeting, like a single day or less.

    • This is either due to the shock of the afterlife, or

    • because compared to eternity, even decades on earth feel like moments.

    ✅ [155] Angels as Witnesses

    When they say, “Ask those who count”, they refer to the recording angels, who:

    • Document every second of life and every deed,

    • and will testify to the truth of their time on earth.

    The verse reflects their regret and helplessness in trying to justify their failure to act.
