📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Mu’minoon – Verse 82

"They said, 'What! When we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again?' [118]"

✅ [118] Denial of Resurrection with Mockery

This verse quotes the disbelievers’ sarcastic and dismissive attitude toward the belief in resurrection. They pose a question—not out of curiosity—but in mockery and contradiction.

They imply: “How could it be possible that after we die and turn into dust and bones, we would be raised again?”—declaring such a thing impossible in their eyes.

Their argument also hints at a historical excuse: they claim that earlier Prophets had warned of the Day of Judgment, yet it hadn’t occurred in the lifetimes of their forefathers. This shows they had some exposure to previous revelations, but chose to distort or dismiss them.

This verse illustrates a key aspect of disbelief rooted in arrogance and superficial reasoning, despite being aware of prophetic teachings.
