Quran Quote  : 

Quran-23:48 Surah Al-muminun English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Fakazzaboohumaa fakaanoo minal muhlakeen )

48. Then they belied both of them and they were from the destroyed ones (75),

Surah Al-Muminun Ayat 48 Tafsir (Commentry)

75. This means the cause of their destruction was not believing in these two pious Prophets. 

This tells that worldly punishment comes due to disobedience to the Prophets. Until rejectors of Allah Almighty had not become the rejectors of the Prophets. punishment had not come to them.
