Transliteration:( Bal atainaahum bil haqqi wa innahum lakaaziboon )
"Nay, but We have brought them the truth, and indeed, they are liars [125]."
This verse is a clear and final rebuttal to the disbelievers. Despite acknowledging some truths about Allah’s power and dominion, they are still declared liars because of their inward rejection and outward hypocrisy.
Their beliefs, statements, and actions are false for several reasons:
They deny the Day of Judgment,
They uphold polytheism,
They consider the unlawful as lawful,
They claim truths with their tongues, yet reject them in their hearts.
This is similar to the hypocrites who would say, “You are the Messenger of Allah,” while disbelieving inwardly. Likewise, these disbelievers verbally affirm that Allah is the Creator and Master, but their behavior and inner stance contradict their words.
Thus, their claim to truth is hollow, and Allah exposes them for what they truly are: persistent rejecters of divine truth.
The tafsir of Surah Al-Muminun verse 90 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Muminun ayat 84 which provides the complete commentary from verse 84 through 90.
(23:90) We have brought before them the Truth, and there is no doubt that they are lying.[83]
83. They are liars because they say that others besides Allah have a share in His Godhead and that there is no life after death, because their first saying contradicts their own admission that Allah is the Owner and the Sovereign of the universe. Then their second assertion is based on the presumption that the All-Powerful Allah cannot recreate what He has created once. This is clearly a contradiction in terms.
