Transliteration:( Fa izas tawaita anta wa mam ma'aka 'alal fulki faqulil hamdu lillaahil lazee najjaanaa minal qawmiz zalimeen )
"Then when you have firmly seated yourself and those with you [45] in the Ark, then say, 'All praise is to Allah who has delivered us from these unjust people [46]."
This shows that even animals like dogs and cats were allowed aboard the Ark, whereas disbelievers were denied entry. This signifies that in Allah’s judgment, those who reject faith are considered worse than animals, as the animals were obedient to divine instinct, while the disbelievers opposed truth knowingly.
The destruction of the disbelievers is portrayed as a mercy and relief for the believers, for which praise and thanks are due to Allah. This is why the Holy Prophet ﷺ prostrated in gratitude upon Abu Jahl’s death and fasted on the Day of Ashura, commemorating the drowning of Pharaoh—both being signs of divine justice and favour upon the believers.
The tafsir of Surah Al-Muminun verse 28 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Muminun ayat 26 which provides the complete commentary from verse 26 through 30.
(23:28) And then when you and those accompanying you are firmly seated in the Ark, say: “Thanks be to Allah Who has delivered us from the wrong-doing people.”[30]
30. The fact that Allah should be praised and thanked for the annihilation of those people, is a clear proof that they were the most wicked and villainous people in the world.
