Transliteration:( Fattakhazat min doonihim hijaaban fa arsalnaaa ilaihaa roohanaa fatamassala lahaa basharan sawiyyaa )
"Then she put a screen [26] between herself and them, and We sent Our Spirit to her, and he [27] appeared before her as a well-formed man. [28]" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)
This means she put up a screen, either to take a bath or to engage in worship, so that no one could see her.
At that time, Bibi Maryam was either thirteen or twenty years old.
This refers to Hazrat Jibraeel (on whom be peace), who has a strong spiritual presence, or is called Rooh because:
He is the companion of the Spirit of Allah,
The one appointed to bring revelation,
Or the one through whose breath Hazrat Isa (on whom be peace) was conceived.
It is also through the dust of his mare’s hoof that life entered the calf of Samiri.
This shows that the word “Bashr” refers to the external human form.
When Hazrat Jibraeel appeared in human form, his angelic nature did not change—just like the Holy Prophet ﷺ is human in form but is Noor in reality.
There’s a big difference between appearance and essence.
