Transliteration:( Wa huzzeee ilaiki bijiz 'in nakhlati tusaaqit 'alaiki rutaban janiyyaa )
"And shake the trunk of the palm-tree [38] towards yourself; fresh and ripe dates will fall upon you. [39]" (Kanzul Imaan Translation)
At the place where Bibi Maryam was enduring labour pains, there was a dry palm trunk.
She was commanded to shake it, and through her blessed touch, the dry trunk turned green, bore fruit, and ripe dates fell upon her.
This shows that the touch of a saintly person can bring life to something lifeless.
If their hands can revive dry wood, then surely their gaze can turn impious hearts into pious ones.
This incident is either a miracle of a saintly woman or a sign of her connection to a Prophet, as it is not naturally possible for fruit to fall from a dry tree.
It also teaches that during childbirth, women should be given dates to ease the difficulty.
Even today, dry dates are given to labouring women, especially ones that have been prayed upon, and this verse is a clear proof for this practice.
