Transliteration:( Yarisunee wa yarisu min aali Ya'qoob, waj'alhu Rabbi radiyya )
"He will inherit from me and inherit from the family of Yaqub [9], and make him, O my Lord, pleasing [10]." (Kanzul Imaan Translation)
This refers to inheritance in terms of knowledge and prophethood, not material wealth, because the wealth of the Prophets is not inherited as estate.
That is why the phrase "from the family of Yaqub" is mentioned here—to highlight spiritual and religious succession.
From this, we learn that appointing one’s son as a successor or deputy is not inappropriate.
Hence, criticism of Hazrat Amir Muawiyah for nominating his son Yazid is unfounded based solely on the act of appointment—his son's sinfulness became apparent only after his father's death.
This means that prophethood was conferred upon him.
Hazrat Zakariya asked Allah to make his son pleasing, that is, upright, virtuous, and spiritually elevated—worthy of divine acceptance and leadership.
