Quran Quote  :

Quran-19:87 Surah Maryam English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Laa yamlikoonash shafaa'ata illaa manittakhaza 'indar Rahmaani 'ahdaa )

87. The people are not the owners of intercession (150) but only those who have taken a covenant with the Most Affectionate (151).

Surah Maryam Ayat 87 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi

150. In this verse there is a rejection of either the intercession of the idols, or there is a total negation of intercession for the infidels.

151. This means those who have already been granted permission for intercession. It should be remembered that our Beloved Prophet has been granted permission for intercession by Allah Almighty in this world already.

By prostrating in the court of Allah Almighty is in fact, for the sake of seeking permission to speak. Thus, there is no inconsistency between the verse and the Hadith Respect of the Royal Court requires that you should seek permission before you speak.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Maryam verse 87 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Maryam ayat 85 which provides the complete commentary from verse 85 through 87.

(19:87) On that Day none will have the power to intercede for them except those who received a sanction from the Most Compassionate Lord.[52]

52. This implies two things: (1) Intercession will be allowed only for the one who might have received permission for it from the Merciful, that is, the one who believed in Allah in the world and made himself deserving of His pardon. (2) Only that one will be able to plead intercession who might have received permission for this from the Merciful, and not those ones whom people themselves had made their intercessors without any reason.
